Senior Frontend Engineer
MobilizeAmerica is at a pivotal point in its growth. We’ve successfully proven our core product in the 2018 midterms, where we worked with 450+ campaigns, including 35 out of the 40 flipped Democratic House seats. Since our inception less than two years ago we’ve driven half a million people to over 7 million door knocks. Now we are working with 14 of the top presidential primary campaigns (and counting), while growing the team and investing to have the maximum possible impact in 2020 and beyond.
As an engineer on a small team, you’ll immediately have significant ownership over product direction and technical architecture, working closely with our CTO on product strategy and execution.
What you will do:
Lead the development of multiple new product areas that help campaigns and advocacy groups recruit and activate more volunteers.
Build out our frontend architecture to support rapid product development across the team with consistent and extensible components.
Collaborate closely with product and design to craft user experiences that delight organizers and volunteers.
Drive high-quality engineering standards and architecture across the organization, and help up-level junior engineers to meet those standards.
Stay abreast of web best practices to inform backend API design, client performance, accessibility, SEO, and other key web client decisions.
Our stack is a Python/Django API backend powering a React/Redux frontend, continuously deployed on Heroku.
Who you are:
You have a history of shipping quality products, and aren’t afraid to get your hands dirty with whatever a product needs to roll out.
You have experience working with single page apps and building out component systems.
You are comfortable thinking like a designer and making design decisions in the face of uncertainty.
You care deeply about empowering ordinary people for progressive causes. We’re a mission-driven company, and everything we do is guided by political impact. At the end of the day, we’re here to elect Democrats.
You have several years of professional experience making frontend web architecture decisions, ideally in startups where you’ve seen things scale (and break).
You ideally have experience with React and Redux, or comparable frontend frameworks
This position is ideally based in New York City (Union Square), but we’re open to applicants that have a track record of successfully working remotely.
To apply, send us your resume or LinkedIn to firstname.lastname@example.org, and include a few words about why you’re the right fit and what excites you about the role.
We are committed to building a workplace that reflects the diversity of volunteers across America that we exist to serve. We especially encourage women, people of color, and others who are underrepresented in the tech industry to apply.
